Today I took a deep dive into greenwashing. I didn’t know there were so many types of greenwashing that companies use.
I’m working on an article about it, but here are some examples:
When certain elements of the product are green, but the product overall is not. Think cigarettes marketed as environmentally friendly because they come in a recycled box.
When companies commit fraud and flat out lie on their labels.
When they make claims they cannot prove.
When they claim their product is recyclable when it is not or cannot.
I’m done. So, today’s change is to always always research the green products I am buying to guarantee that I am buying the truth.
